The Lodge

The Members’ Lodge provides a number of popular options for your event.

The Members’ Lodge serves as a focal point for The Sporting Club—the central hub around which many club activities and events take place.  Whether you are looking for a small room for private meetings or an intimate over-the-top dining experience for your closest friends, we are here to help. Interested in something a little different?  How about a demonstration from our chefs or our mixologist?  Or maybe a wine tasting tailored to your specific desires?  Whatever you seek, please take the time to meet with our team and learn how we can help you pull off the perfect affair.

The Lodge Dining Room at The Members’ Lodge provides a charming, yet elegant, space that features exposed timber beams, stacked stone fireplaces and room for up to 60 guests. For larger gatherings of over 200 guests, members may use the entire lodge and have use of the Dining Room, Private Dining Room, Foyer and White Rock Room.
The Private Dining Room is located just off the Lodge Dining Room and is suitable for receptions and plated dinners for up to 40 guests.  To accommodate larger groups, the Lodge Dining Room Terrace is easily accessible by two doors from the Private Dining Room.
The Terrace at The Lodge offers an outdoor fireplace, with both golf course and pool views.  This venue best accommodates parties of 10 to 40 guests.
Located upstairs at The Lodge, the White Rock Room overlooks the 18th green & captures the sun setting over White Rock Mountain. Utilizing this room as well as the rest of the upstairs space is an ideal venue if you are planning to host a private meeting, luncheon, or dinner. This room is equipped with a private bar and can accommodate parties up to 75 guests while our custom board table can accommodate 10 people, perfect for meetings.
The Event Lawn at The Lodge overlooks the 18th Green of The Snead golf course and is perfect for receptions up to 200 people or a sunset wedding ceremony.  The Lodge Pool, with its outdoor café, is a great venue for a casual gathering for cocktails and dinner.  Top it off with a guitarist playing your favorite tunes and it’s an evening your guests won’t soon forget.

The Summit

Sitting at 3,300-feet on Greenbrier Mountain with stunning views The Summit was opened in the summer of 2007 at the top of Greenbrier Mountain.  With The Summit Mini-Golf Links, the Activities Barn, and the infinity pool, it’s the perfect place to bring the family and spend the day.  Everyone is sure to find something fun to do!

The Summit lodge’s restaurant offers spectacular views from the covered patio and is complemented by a bar/lounge, semi-private dining room and outdoor fire pit.  Events held here can range up to 48 guests inside and an additional 200+ by utilizing the entire Summit, including the Event Glade, Outdoor Amphitheater and Activities Barn.
Constructed of reclaimed hand-hewn logs from an antique cabin, the Cabin Room allows a bit of privacy while enjoying The Summit’s rustic ambiance and comfort food. Cocktails and dessert on the Event Glade with dinner in the Cabin Room is a sure way to impress up to 24 guests.
Enjoy beautiful views off the top of Greenbrier Mountain-offering a quiet and pristine setting. The outdoor amphitheater is perfect for live musical performances and ideal for an outdoor wedding ceremony, dine-a-round or a casual Summit Style buffet. The Event Glade and Outdoor Amphitheater can host up to 100+ guests.
The Activities Barn is primarily used for athletic activities but can be beautifully transformed into an event location based on your theme. It is also a wonderful back up plan for inclement weather, easily transitioning from the Event Glade to indoors. This location would accommodate parties up to 150 guests.

Additional Venues

The Grist Mill sits on a pond at the center of the Howard’s Creek neighborhood and is perfectly suited for a small family gathering.  Downstairs is a great-room with a wood burning fireplace and upstairs consists of a loft-style room with space to set several tables and chairs.  With a small event lawn and the pond just off the porch, it’s a great place to play some corn hole or other yard games.
The Equestrian Center at your Sporting Club is not just for horses.  This is a great place for relaxed family gatherings where you may want to try something new or bring all the kids over for an entertaining birthday party.  Horse-themed décor and cupcakes will top off the perfect event.
The cabin plays a large role in the history of Greenbrier County. In 1932 a log cabin was built on what is now The Snead golf course as The Greenbrier’s Skeet and Trapshooting Club.  It also served as the clubhouse for The Greenbrier’s polo team.  During WWII the cabin was used by POW Camp Commander, Colonel Frank Hunter.
 
The Hunt Cabin stands as both a historical landmark and central headquarters for the Sporting Club’s Outdoor Pursuits and Naturalist Programs.
 
Just outside the cabin is a fully stocked fishing pond, an archery range and Howard’s Creek.  Our Outdoor Pursuits staff would love to assist in making this an event that is not specifically focused on Food & Beverage but also involves activities such as archery and fishing.  The Hunt Cabin can be reserved for private events such as Cocktail Parties, Plated Dinners and Family-Style Barbecues.
 
During the colder months, the cabin’s beautiful stone fireplace will warm the cabin for an intimate dinner setting for up to 12 guests.
 
During the summer months, over 100 guests can dine outdoors and enjoy the natural surroundings.  Ask for a bonfire and a live band to round out the evening’s festivities.

There are so many moving parts to an event, sometimes it’s hard to wrangle them all together. Let us step in and help you book an event photographer or provide lodging accommodations for your guests. We can even help you arrange for transportation to/from area airports and various events both on and off the property itself. And if you need help planning activities for your group, we are there with endless options to make sure you deliver memories to last a lifetime.

No event is complete without premium entertainment.  Regardless of the venue, our team can guide you to a number of entertainment possibilities.  Live music, including full bands and smaller groups alike, feature prominently in many of our events.  Pianists, harpists and even jazz singers are also available when you need that perfect accompaniment to a fantastic night.
So your food is already drawing rave reviews, now shouldn’t your drinks be, too?  Why just offer the normal beverage service?  Let us help you prepare the perfect compliment to your dinner. Maybe it’s a twist on your favorite cocktail, or perfectly paired wines for each food course or station.  Our mixologists will make sure everyone’s having a good time.
This format encourages mingling and socialization and is often times used at the beginning of a event to meet new people.  Dine-Arounds are a wonderful choice for incorporating various styles of food stationed throughout the venue.
We all fondly remember how fun our birthday parties were as children, and as parents they are equally as memorable.  Let us help you create the perfect, themed children’s party.  We can develop themes around your child’s favorite hobby or activity, such as pony parties with trail rides and themed cupcakes, or sports themed parties with dodgeball, basketball and mini-golf.  In fact, our team can customize your children’s event any way you want it, starting with the menu all the way up to the balloons. The possibilities are truly endless.

The Sporting Club has hosted many family gatherings, corporate events & weddings, of all shapes and sizes, and can accommodate parties of 200+ comfortably.  Our dining service is also very versatile and can include buffet, plated or dine-around setups.  Whatever your heart desires, we want to make your day as special as you are.
