ALLEN WILLS

Title

Director of Operations

Allen graduated from Concord University with a B.S. in Travel Industry Management, with a concentration on Park & Resort Management. He began his hospitality career with various positions within the WV State Park System & at Winterplace Ski Resort. Allen joined The Greenbrier in 1998, beginning his journey in the Front Office & later progressing to Assistant Manager at Sam Snead’s. He transitioned to The Sporting Club in 2001, helping to develop & provide administration for the rental program for the Copeland Hill homes. His involvement with Club Operations began with the opening of The Lodge in 2004, where he initially had oversight of the Facilities & Rental departments, as well as the day-to-day operation of The GSC Community Association. Today, Allen provides the leadership for all aspects of the management & operation of The Club. He is surrounded by a group of hospitality professionals, each dedicated to providing the membership with an unsurpassed Club experience.

SELINA CAHILL

A West Virginia native, Selina is a graduate of Concord University and has been a Lewisburg resident since 1993. Selina was the former Director of Training at The Greenbrier Resort and CEO of her own training and consulting company, Simmons Street Solutions. Selina’s work experience includes a variety of industries in the area of hospitality, healthcare, financial, educational and pharmaceutical. Selina and her husband, Jan, have two daughters. Sam Cahill Wilson, an East Carolina University alumni resides in Lewisburg, WV, with her husband Ryan and their son, Brice. Haley Cahill Teubert, a graduate of Appalachian State University, works remotely for a company in Brentwood, TN and resides in Lewisburg, WV with her husband Chris and their daughter Amelia.

MARSHA CHRISTIAN SHAVER

Director of Membership Services & Communications

Marsha, a life-time resident of Greenbrier County, joined The Greenbrier Resort in 2001 as a Housekeeping Supervisor. After six years of gathering extensive knowledge of the hotel and resort, she joined The Sporting Club in July 2007 as part of the Concierge team, and then assumed position as Manager of Member Services in September 2010. In 2023 she was promoted to her current position. Marsha oversees the Member Services team and Membership Office, as well as coordinates and promotes activities and events. She works as administrator of the members’ website, and oversees the development of the monthly newsletter. Marsha has two adult children, daughter Baylee (Donald) and son Hayden (Whitney). Also a granddaughter, Ellie, who was born in 2024. With her husband, John, she has a teenage step-daughter, Maddie. In her time outside of work she enjoys road trips & camping adventures in her travel trailer, hiking, chasing waterfalls, and reading books.

RUTHIE ALLEN

Manager of Membership Services

Ruthie is a native of Greenbrier County and the proud mother of three adult children, Stephanie, Seth, & Sydnee. She enjoys making people happy, caring for others, and spending time with family, friends and pets. She is also passionate about flower gardening. Ruthie began her career in banking, and later joined her father in running the family moving and storage business. She eventually owned and operated the family business until 2006, when she took time to care for her mother. During that same period, she purchased the apple dumpling concession stand which she operates annually at The State Fair of West Virginia, and thus began her career in hospitality. She joined The Greenbrier Sporting Club in July 2011 as a shuttle driver and, shortly thereafter, became a member of the Concierge team. In 2023, she assumed her current position overseeing the Membership Office. With her bubbly personality and can-do attitude, she manages the Concierge Team & Welcome Center Greeters.

STEPHANIE HUFFMAN

A lifelong resident of White Sulphur Springs, Stephanie joined The Sporting Club in 2002, during the development stage, as an Accounts Payable Clerk. Since then, she has taken on many accounting roles, both at The Club and the resort. Stephanie graduated from West Virginia Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Business Management and an A.S. in Accounting. Stephanie says she is most happy to have been part of The Sporting Club team from its earliest stages, seeing what used to be an airport strip turned into a beautiful, award-winning golf course. She and her fur babies - Remi, Piper, & Bo - reside just a few miles from The Club. In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys reading, attending music events, & spending quality time with her family and pets.

JUSTIN BEARD

Golf Professional

Justin accepted his position at The Sporting Club in January of 2016. He is certainly a tried and true member of The Greenbrier family having worked as Assistant Golf Professional at The Greenbrier following his graduation from Concord University. Later he moved to Head Instructor of the Jim Jamieson Golf School at The Resort at Glade Springs. Within three years, he was promoted to Head Professional and, soon thereafter, to PGA Director of Golf at Glade Springs. Justin has great experience in all aspects of the golf industry and is passionate about the game. Outside of work, Justin’s passions are hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors…and of course, golf! Justin feels extremely lucky to be blessed with his two children Tyler, and Raelyn and they enjoy their time together with sports and fun trips.

ADAM PERRY

Adam, a proud West Virginia native, is from Shady Spring, West Virginia, where his hobbies include playing competitive golf and tennis. He attended Marshall University and, while there, was involved with many on-campus organizations and philanthropic events. He graduated in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Upon graduation, Adam went on to serve as the P.J. Boatwright Jr. Intern for the West Virginia Golf Association, traveling and contributing his time to orchestrating amateur championships around the state. Before joining The Greenbrier Sporting Club, Adam was involved with the Golf Department at The Resort at Glade Springs. He started his career as a golf service attendant in early 2009 and, most recently, served as their Assistant Golf Professional. Having received a great deal of professional experience at Glade Springs, Adam is excited to share his positive charisma and golf knowledge with the members of The Sporting Club.

MATT HOFFMAN

Matt grew up in Westerville, Ohio before moving to West Virginia to play golf for Marshall University. After graduating in 2021, he moved to Seattle, Washington with his partner, Hannah, & began his career in golf. While working at Sand Point Country Club, Matt learned the golf profession & directed their junior golf program. After two years in the Pacific Northwest, life brought Matt & Hannah back to her hometown of White Sulphur Springs where he joined The Sporting Club team in 2023! Since, he is involved in every aspect of the golf operation, with a focus on golf events. Matt continues to play competitively & enjoys playing with his century-old hickory clubs! He has a strong passion for all aspects of the game, especially its history. In his free time, Matt coaches at the First Tee of Lewisburg, reads about golf course architecture, & spends time with his friends! Matt is eager to share his thoughts on golf with the members & guests of The Greenbrier Sporting Club!

CARRINGTON BRYANT

Golf Course Superintendent

Carrington, a West Virginia native, was born and raised in Caldwell, West Virginia. During his high school years, Carrington worked in Golf Maintenance on The Snead Course. He enjoyed the job so much that he decided to study Golf and Sports Turf Management at Horry-Georgetown Technical School in Conway, SC. With the completion of his degree he returned to the Greenbrier Valley and pursued his passion for turf care management at The Greenbrier Resort where he spent ten years caring for The Meadows Course and the football fields at The Greenbrier. When not tending to The Snead, Carrington can be found at the shooting range or visiting historical destinations and abandoned towns.

JAMIE YATES

Wellness Manager

Jamie was born and raised in Lewisburg. After graduating from massage school in 2001, she started her career at The Greenbrier Spa. Ready to try new things, she moved to Colorado to work at a small day spa in Vail. During this venture, Jamie became accustomed to new techniques geared towards athletes. Eager to learn a more in-depth approach to athletes & injury, she returned to WV to study Physical Therapy. In 2008 she began her career as a Physical Therapist Assistant gaining knowledge in multiple healthcare settings. She then opened her own business working in conjunction with local Doctors providing medical massage. A move out of state rerouted her career to Rehab Management. Jamie has always had a love for hands-on work and helping others to function better while feeling healthier. With her extensive background in massage & physical therapy, she is excited to apply these skills to assisting members with Wellness at The Club. Jamie resides with her family in Lewisburg, WV.

TERESA VALLANDINGHAM

Spa Coordinator

Teresa is a native of West Virginia and a resident of Greenbrier County since 1992, when she took a position as Service Coordinator at The Greenbrier Spa. Teresa has received extensive training in hospitality, as well as management and retail. Having received hands-on training in all aspects of daily spa functions, she joined The Sporting Club in 2004 as Spa Coordinator and helped open the Ananda Spa. Teresa says providing five-star hospitality and service to members and their guests is a workplace pleasure. Her interests are in travel, food, and spending time with her large extended family, including three grown children and six grandchildren.

DAWN HOLLIDAY

Equestrian Manager

Dawn grew up riding horses on her family’s farm in Smoot, West Virginia, and is an avid trail rider. She joined The Sporting Club in 2004 as the Equestrian Center Stable Assistant, but quickly became an integral member of the Equestrian Center team and was promoted to Assistant Equestrian Manager in 2009. During her time with The Club, Dawn has bred and raised Labrador Retrievers and Australian Cattle Dogs, bringing them to work and sharing their development with our members and guests. A lover of all animals, she has also been involved in horse rescue, and has fostered a pig, a herd of goats, numerous cows, and a litter of kittens. Dawn lives in Frankford with her partner, Jeremy, and their menagerie of creatures - three horses, two dogs and four cats.

JUSTIN MOSES

In his 15 years in the restaurant industry, there are very few positions in which Justin hasn’t worked. Shifts as Host, Server, Chef, Sommelier and Manager can all be found on his resume. A once long-time resident of Chicago, Justin has recently relocated to the city from central Wisconsin’s Sand Valley Golf Resort, where he unearthed a passion for the golf industry. At The Sporting Club, he can be found working on the next classic cocktail, the curation of the wine list, and leading the Food and Beverage team to deliver great service to all our members and their guests. Outside of work, Justin can be found hitting the links, exploring the local restaurant scene, taking his labradoodle, Benny, to the dog park, and solving the daily crossword puzzle.

EMILY ARBUCKLE

Special Events Coordinator

Emily was born and raised in Greenbrier County, WV. She spent her formative years as part of Valley Dance Studio before attending West Virginia Wesleyan College, working in the accounting field, while dancing for WVWC Dance Team. While working at Gillespie’s Flowers and Productions it became clear that she had a passion for event planning. When an opportunity came available to apply for an Event Planning Internship in her home community she immediately applied. Emily joined The Greenbrier Sporting Club as an intern where she began to learn about the world of events. Five months later she was promoted to her current position of Special Events Coordinator. In her free time, she enjoys adventures with her dog, Kane.

JARED MASTERS

Executive Chef

Jared began his culinary career at age 19, working in restaurants in South Florida. As his passion for food blossomed, he became more interested in cooking as a career. Returning home to the Greenbrier Valley he apprenticed at The Greenbrier Resort under a master chef before making the move to The Greenbrier Sporting Club as Garde Manger but was quickly promoted to Line Cook, then Chef de Partie in 2015, Summit Sous Chef in 2016 & Summit Chef de Cuisine in 2017. With that experience, he accepted an opportunity as Executive Chef at a fine dining establishment in Lewisburg, where he spent two years before returning to The Club in December 2022 as Executive Chef. Jared is one of 9 Chefs in the WV Chef Ambassador Program, an initiative created by the Department of Tourism designed to promote local Appalachian cuisine through educational training and seminars. Jared looks forward to building on what is already a legendary Food and Beverage program at The Club.

LINDA HALSTEAD

After high school, Chef Linda started school at Pierpont Community & Technical College where she graduated with an Associate in Culinary Arts and Baking and Pastry. While obtaining her degree she worked internships at The Resort at Glade Springs, Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place, The Greenbrier Sporting Club, and a few small bakeries. After completing her internship at The Greenbrier Sporting Club in 2020, she continued on as a full time pastry cook working her way up to her current leadership role of Head Pastry Chef. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband Andrew and their two young sons, or relaxes while reading a good book.

KARSEN JONES

Summit Chef de Cuisine

Growing up in Easton, Maryland, Karsen uncovered his culinary passion at an early age. At 19, he moved to Greenbrier County and started his culinary career here at The Greenbrier Sporting Club as the Pool Cafe Cook. Soon after, he would begin to learn all of the stations in the kitchen. Seeking an opportunity to expand his knowledge of the craft, Karsen found his stride while working as Sous Chef at a local bistro in Lewisburg. His contributions to the culinary team helped earn the award of Best Restaurant: West Virginia two years in a row (2021 & 2022). There he learned to utilize produce from local farms and craft food to the highest standards. In late 2022, he was ready to bring his knowledge and classical training back home to The GSC family. With aspirations to showcase regional ingredients and techniques, Chef Karsen takes great pride in his food and beverage family and the memories created by The Greenbrier Sporting Club team.

KRIS MARTINEZ

Kris’ love for food & hospitality came at a very young age. Some of his fondest memories were in the kitchen helping his abuela prepare Puerto Rican staples or watching his uncles man the fire at his family’s annual pig roast. Noticing his interest in cooking, his father enrolled him in Kensington Culinary Arts Highschool in Philadelphia PA where he began learning about America’s regional cuisines which only furthered his curiosity. Over 15 years ago Kris’ culinary career started as a porter in a fine dining restaurant in Lewisburg WV and the rest, as they say, was history. Over the years he has had the pleasure of working under some of the best chefs in Greenbrier County WV, Hot Springs VA, and Charlotte NC. After graduating from Johnson & Wales with a bachelors in culinary & food service management Kris & his wife moved back to West Virginia to raise their daughter. When Kris isn’t working he loves to bake, barbeque, spend time with family & play disc golf.

ANTONIO ROSCOE

Chef Antonio grew up in Farmington, West Virginia in a large Italian American family. Watching his aunts and grandmother working in the kitchen inspired a passion for cuisine at a young age. Antonio started his career at Muriale’s Italian Kitchen at eighteen years old as a dishwasher. After being promoted to line cook and discovering a love for the professional kitchen environment, he would attend Pierpont Culinary Academy. At a recruiting event at school he was introduced to chefs from The Greenbrier Sporting Club. In 2020 Antonio began his culinary career as an intern at The Summit. He would continue to work his way up the culinary ranks over the next four years. In 2023, he took a short hiatus to pursue opportunities in his hometown. In fall of 2024 Antonio ventured back to the Greenbrier Valley, and The Sporting Club, to take on the role of Sous Chef.

JENNIFER MORGAN

Jennifer was born and raised in Lewisburg, West Virginia. She joined The Sporting Club in the spring of 2008 as a Server Assistant. Over the years, she has held several positions within The Club; server, bartender, assistant supervisor, Summit Dining Manager and currently serves as Dining Services Manager for The Lodge restaurant. Jennifer loves the fast-paced atmosphere of food & beverage and enjoys meeting and welcoming members, their families and guests to The Club dining experience. She and her daughter, Irie, reside in White Sulphur Springs. When not working, Jennifer loves to spend time outdoors with her daughter, Irie, and their beloved dogs and cats.

Sarah, born and raised in White Sulphur Springs, WV joined The Sporting Club as a seasonal employee in 2018 when she started college at West Virginia University. She fell in love with the vibrant atmosphere of The Sporting Club and came back as a full-time employee after graduating. She is always eager to learn and has had the pleasure of serving many different roles in the Food and Beverage Department. Whether she’s out on the Beverage Cart, behind the bar, or supervising The Lodge Pool Café, Sarah delights in taking care of Members and their families and collaborating with her wonderful coworkers. Most recently promoted to Dining Supervisor, she is over the moon to have the opportunity to grow and learn even more. In her free time, Sarah can be found singing in her local choir, performing on stage at Greenbrier Valley Theatre, or taking a bike ride through her beloved hometown.

MONTE CRAWFORD

Summit Dining Manager

Monte, a lifelong resident of Covington, Virginia, joined The Sporting Club team in June of 2013, working her first season as a Server at The Summit. Before coming to The Club, however, she worked for 15 years at Western Sizzlin’ in a myriad of positions before becoming Assistant Manager. She attended Dabney S. Lancaster Community College for a while, taking general studies, but later switched to Liberty University to study business management in healthcare services. Over time, however, she realized that her heart was leading her back to the hospitality industry. When she came to us, then, it was with a passion for customer service and taking care of people and, as a result, in 2017 she was promoted to Lead Server then to Assistant Manager of Dining Services, Events Manager, and most currently Summit Dining Manager. She truly enjoys her role here at The Club and it shows, as you often find her immersed in various tasks at both The Lodge and Summit.

ALAUREN BEAVERS

Summit Lead Server & Bartender

Alauren was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado but was raised in West Virginia. She began her career in hospitality at The Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia where she bartended for five years. In 2015, Alauren accepted a Bartender position at The Greenbrier Sporting Club’s Summit restaurant and in 2022 was promoted to Lead Server & Bartender. She has always loved the fast-paced atmosphere of working in food & beverage and enjoys welcoming members and hand-crafting cocktails for their enjoyment. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband Chandler and their young son Maxwell.

JASON BROWN

Director of Development

A West Virginia native, Jason grew up in Peterstown, a small town in Monroe County. He graduated from West Virginia University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in the states of West Virginia and Virginia. Prior to joining the team at The Greenbrier Sporting Club Jason was Director of Engineering at The Homestead Resort for eight years and prior to that was Director of Engineering and Planning for eight years for Intrawest at Snowshoe Mountain Resort. During his time at Snowshoe he oversaw the construction of four condo hotels, new ski lifts, slope expansion and the construction of the 40 acre Shavers Lake. During that time he was recognized as one of West Virginia’s Top 40 Executives Under 40 by The State Journal. He currently sits on the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) Environmental Board and American Standards B77 Ropeways Committee. Outside of work, Jason is an avid golfer and skier and enjoys really anything outdoors.

LINDA HIGHLANDER

Linda is a lifelong resident of White Sulphur Springs, WV. She began her professional career in banking, holding many positions; including that of Loan Officer, later as an Office Manager in real estate, and Legal Assistant to an attorney. In all, Linda has over 39 years of experience in the fields of finance and real estate, as well as being a licensed realtor. Having joined The GSC in 2001, she has been a part of the team almost since its inception, and has seen The Club and community develop from vision to completion. Linda works closely with the sales staff and oversees the legal aspects of the purchase and sale process, the submission and construction process for the Architectural Review Board (ARB), and is historian and caretaker of the development records. Linda enjoys working in her yard and traveling to new destinations.

DENNIS TUCKWILLER

Dennis is a native of Greenbrier County, West Virginia, and joined The Sporting Club in March 2007, as Community Association Superintendent. Dennis works to ensure the Community Association common areas and facilities are maintained according to functional and appearance standards and oversees The Sporting Club grounds, assuring that everything is maintained to the highest standards. Prior to joining The Club, Dennis worked as a project coordinator, and one of those projects was the initial construction of The Sporting Club Lodge. When not on property, he enjoys spending time on the family farm in Asbury.

HAYES BEARD

Director Of Sales

Hayes Beard grew up in Atlanta and attended Lovett and the University of Georgia. Having majored in Forestry with an emphasis on Timber Management, his love for the outdoors led him from a career cruising the pine stands of Georgia to the homesites of some of the finest communities in the world. Hayes has over two decades of experience working in luxury resort communities, including Temenos Anguilla and Cap Juluca. For 19 years, Hayes has been instrumental in the success of The Greenbrier Sporting Club, having helped hundreds of families sell or purchase property in our community. In his spare time, you can find him with his wife, Kelley, and two boys, enjoying one of many family-friendly activities offered at the resort or The Greenbrier Sporting Club.

Ben Gesner was born and raised in Greenbrier County, and attended West Virginia University. He has worked for The Sporting Club for over five years, but came to work for the real estate team in January 2017. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, floating the Greenbrier River, and cooking. As a listing specialist, Ben works closely with sellers, marketing, and our sales team to ensure the available property information is current, complete, and communicated to all parties timely.

RALPH TAYLOR

Maintenance Manager

Ralph is a native of West Virginia, having been born and raised in Ronceverte. Ralph joined The Sporting Club management team in April 2007. Having owned and operated Taylor’s Appliance Service since 1983, Ralph has serviced everything from household appliances to commercial refrigeration, making him a natural fit for The Club’s Maintenance Department. He is a licensed contractor in the State of West Virginia and a certified pool and spa operator. As Maintenance Manager, Ralph leads The Club’s maintenance team and is charged with ensuring that all facilities are maintained to the highest standards. When not at The Club, Ralph loves spending time with his wife Becky and hunting and fishing in the mountains of West Virginia and Colorado. Together, he and Becky love spoiling their miniature Australian Shepherd, Bailey.

MIKE O’DELL

Facilities Manager

Mike is a native of West Virginia and joined The Sporting Club Maintenance team in 2012. His unique background in Aircraft Maintenance with the U.S. Air Force provided the perfect foundation for his role of coordinating a team that provides all aspects of maintenance, including swimming pools and tennis courts. In late 2023, Mike accepted the position of Facilities Manager, which added the responsibility of overseeing all housekeeping operations to his repertoire. Prior to coming to The Club, Mike worked for a diverse range of organizations, including Greenbrier Outfitters, as well as John’s Island Club in Vero Beach and Gasparilla Inn & Club in Boca Grande, Florida. When not at The Club, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife, Shannon, and is passionate about the outdoors, enjoying all the recreational opportunities West Virginia has to offer. Mike also holds the rather unique distinction of being a licensed Master Falconer.
